**_Responsibilities:_**
+ Work to develop "Best Value" product opportunities that include best performance, customer acceptance, and continuous improvement for the users
+ Monitor market needs, competitive products, and the changing production schedules of approved manufacturers to improve competitive positioning
+ Provide sales support and product training material to field sales, and inside sales staff
+ Develop product pricing policies and negotiate best cost vendor programs to improve payment terms, and improve margin
+ Rationalize and consolidate product lines to improve inventory turns and create volume cost improvement opportunities
+ Support sales staff with special product requirements and prices. Work to improve go-to-market strategy and speed of new product implementation to ensure sales staff has every opportunity to grow packaging department volume sales
+ Support sales staff by problem solving and recommending new and different packaging materials as they become available
**_Requirements:_**
+ Bachelor's degree required
+ 5+ years experience in flexible packaging purchasing or relevant business experience is required; preferably in a distribution environment
+ Must have proven experience negotiating with vendors
+ Working knowledge of the raw materials used in food processing is preferred; also an existing working relationship with packaging material manufacturers is preferred
+ A thorough understanding of basic film structures and performance is preferred
+ An Understanding of packaging machines and their film requirements is preferred, as well as experience with designing custom packages for most food packaging applications
+ Must possess strong planning, organizational and time management skills as well as strong analytical problem solving skills
+ Must be able to multi-task with the ability to change direction quickly and often
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
+ Enterprise purchasing system experience is highly preferred
