The Product Compliance and Regulatory Specialist is responsible for supporting product compliance across the Arhaus portfolio by managing documentation, standards, and testing requirements to meet federal, state, and local regulatory standards as well as Arhaus brand standards. This role oversees the creation, review, and accuracy of SKU-specific product testing records, including General Certificates of Conformity (GCCs), and ensures corrective action plans (CAPs) are documented addressing identified non-compliances. The role is based out of our HQ in Boston Heights, OH.
The Specialist is expected to continuously collaborate with vendors, third-party labs, service providers, and internal teams to uphold compliance for both domestic and imported products.
Additionally, the Specialist monitors regulatory developments, identifies potential compliance risks, and communicates necessary updates to the Arhaus Manager of Product Compliance & Regulations to support proactive risk management and regulatory adherence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Product Compliance & Regulatory Support:
Monitor/oversee the creation, review, and maintenance of product testing records, supporting the Arhaus regulatory/quality and transit programs. Monitor/oversee the creation, review, and maintenance of associated General Conformity Certificates (GCCs) for all applicable products to ensure compliance with CPSC regulations. Maintain knowledge of updated regulatory requirements or changes and support the implementation of necessary process updates.Documentation Management:
Review and validate SKU-specific compliance documentation, including GTFs, GCCs, test reports, and CAPs, ensuring alignment with established Arhaus test protocols, standards, and the Arhaus Product Compliance Vendor’s Operations Guide.Vendor Coordination:
Act as the primary liaison with vendors and third-party labs to address questions, resolve documentation errors, and ensure timely submissions and record releases. Assist in the development of, and, at times, provide, guidance and training to vendors on the Arhaus product testing program, regulatory requirements, and product compliance documentation standards.Risk Mitigation:
Identify potential compliance gaps, alert the Arhaus Manager of Product Compliance and Regulations, and recommend corrective actions.Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a field of physical science (chemistry, material science), regulatory affairs, paralegal studies / pre-law, supply chain management, etc. Master’s Degree / MBA, beneficialRequirements
Experience:
1-5 years in regulatory compliance, product safety, or a related field, preferably in retail or consumer goods, with a stronger preference for those with experience in an existing Arhaus consumer product category, or children’s products. Experience with GCCs, product testing, and working with third-party labs is strongly preferred.Skills:
Strong understanding of US consumer product regulations and related regulatory bodies, preferably in an existing Arhaus consumer product category (ex. furniture, soft goods, home décor). Experience with product compliance records such as LOGs, GCCs (COCs, CPCs, etc), test reports, CAPs, and working with third-party labs is strongly preferred. Keen attention to detail Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, adapt to regulatory changes, and manage competing priorities. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. This role will be expected to communicate with individuals who are English second language (ESL), or individuals with which English is not a primary method of communication. An ability to multi-task and prioritize based on impact on the Arhaus business and customer. Proven decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Must have a strong foundation and proven track record of ethics, integrity, judgment, and confidentiality.
