Job Description
The Product Control Manager performs independent price verification (IPV) procedures across a range of fixed income securities and derivative contracts within the company’s trading inventory. The position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of profit and loss (P&L) for trading desks and analyzing trading data to provide insights on P&L drivers to stakeholders. The Product Control Manager is also responsible for pushing forward multiple initiatives to streamline P&L reporting across all trading desks. The product control team provides a critical role in ensuring the company’s books and records accurately represent fair value and are a key liaison with the Front Office Trading Desks, Market Risk, Middle Office, Information Technology and Financial Reporting.

How You'll Spend Your Time
• You will independently validate trading position valuations as part of the IPV process.
• You will collaborate with Front Office trading personnel to produce daily, weekly, and monthly P&L results and analysis.
• You will ensure accurate and timely reporting of profit and loss (P&L) for all trading desks.
• You will analyze trading data to provide insights on P&L drivers.
• You will work with IT to develop automated P&L reports and reconciliations.
• You will develop and implement processes to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through the attainment of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and ¬¬8+ years of directly related in fixed income securities and related derivative contracts valuation, product control, market risk or financial reporting. CPA certification generally requires completion of a master’s degree with a minimum of 30 hours concentrated in accounting above principles of accounting or introductory level. Attainment of Financial Operations Principal license (Series 27) and Operations Professional license (Series 99) within 1 years of hire is expected. Other relevant certifications may also be considered.
• Deep understanding of the principles and methodologies used in the valuation of fixed income securities and related derivative contracts
• Strong writing skills and ability to provide reliable and succinct commentary on P&L results
• Able to communicate and present effectively to key stakeholders across the organization
• Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data utilizing Excel, SQL, Alteryx and / or Visual Basic
• Ability to develop and maintain SQL queries of moderate complexity.
• Ability to multitask and be adaptable to tight deadlines
• Knowledge of back-office trading financial systems (i.e. Broadridge Impact) preferred
• Knowledge of front office trading systems (i.e. Ion and Bloomberg) preferred
• Knowledge of mortgage-backed securities (MBS), To-be-announced (TBA), collateralized mortgage obligations (CMO) and municipal trading strategies preferred
• Power BI experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to build and review complex mathematical / data transformations to analyze trading data
