Position summary
As the Design Engineer, you are an integral part of the ECS (Environmental Control System) Product Team. You directly participate in projects involving the design and development of composite and metallic structures, ducting, valves, actuators, fluid and thermal control systems, acoustic control, and a variety of stand-alone and integrated heaters for numerous applications.
You generate product concepts and designs, tooling designs, drawings,and Parts Lists based on customer data, loads, performance requirements, material applicability and environmental constraint. You lead and ensure the progress of assigned projects; develop designs, data, specifications, processes, and reports throughout the product development process; and present for technical reviews.
Essential ResponsibilitiesSupport project goals and tasks with engineering leadership, finance, testing, quality, program management, and production support functionsWork seamlessly with other departments to develop prototypes and products that can be transitioned to production Design and analysis to meet internal and customer requirementsEstimate manufacturing timeline /planning / verification/testing /validation.Design tooling and fixtures as needed to produce designs consistently and economicallySolve technical problems in the lab or in the factoryGenerate parts lists and digital bills of material, including sub-assemblies, fasteners, tooling and hardware accurately based on design requirementsDevelop procedures for part and systems, including Acceptance Test Procedures/ Reports, Qualification Test Procedures, Qualification by Analysis and Similarity Reports, etc.Generate 3D models and 2D, including interface control, installation, top assembly, detail, and sub-components, using both ANSI and geometric tolerance rules Position Requirements BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or comparable, with 3+ years’ experience in engineering design and development environmentDesign experience with metals for structures and mechanical systemsStrong problem-solving skillsProficient in CAD modeling and engineering drawings (preferred SolidWorks, Catia, and/or Creo)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office tools
Desired Capabilities :
Test plans, test procedures, conducting development and qualification testingWorking knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for mechanical componentsDesign experience with composites and elastomers for primary structure, secondary structure, ECS, ducting, etc.Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (preferred Oracle)Experience with simulation and analysis (preferred Ansys, NASTRAN)Experience with project engineering and technical leadership Familiarity with RTCA/DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standardsStrong Leadership skillsSafety is a core value at ITT.
