The Product Design Engineer is a key member of the product development team which works closely with other Engineering teams, such as the Test Lab, Manufacturing and Product Management to create competitive designs for Trane Commercial HVAC equipment. The selected individual must have the technical expertise to support product design projects, product validation testing, drive to root cause for quality & reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards and conduct projects in accordance with standard engineering and stage gate product development process practices.

Learn more about our benefits here! What you will do: Meet the needs of internal and external customers, through documenting, understanding and prioritizing customer requirements. Apply technical expertise to solve design problems or to gauge appropriateness of product to various applications. Participate on project teams to meet performance, reliability, cost and schedule objectives. Take part in design reviews and test plan reviews to ensure a robust and reliable design. Contribute to design FMEAs; develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans. Provide technical support to laboratory technicians, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, technical service and operations. Support field and factory problem resolution. Overnight travel (less than 10%).Where is the work:
This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week in La Crosse, WI.
What you will bring: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and at least 0-3 years of engineering or product design experience is required. Able to function as a team member on cross-functional product engineering teams and deliver on select design elements for projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization. Knowledge of Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) fundamentals. Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to efficiently understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions. Ability to work as an effective member of a team. Prefer understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Prefer Computer Aided Design (CAD) knowledge.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000.
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
