Product Development Manager

Position Summary:

As a Product Development Manager, you will work collaboratively with a cross functional team to develop new items, update existing items and facilitate the development of new brands in order to achieve front store sales and margin goals.  The Product Development Manager partners with the QA/Regulatory division to ensure compliance and internal requirements, related to product, formulations and factory operations are being met as well make sure that all Store Brand products are safe for our customers and live up to the label claims that we are stating on our packaging. The Product development Manager position is also responsible for Selecting suppliers, managing brokers, negotiating cost of goods, creating all inner and outer packaging for the new items with the suppliers, and acting as point of contact for inventory partners; aiding all cross functional partners in completing their tasks for a successful on time product launches.
 

On the Store Brand Team, you will be part of a cross functional team that is leading the path to delivers innovation and technology in all categories within our store and will be helping our customers on their path to better health.

Additional responsibilities of the Product Development Manager include:

Spearheading product availability issues with suppliers and Inventory Management teamManaging relationships with current suppliers and potential new suppliers on designated categoriesEnsuring new items, refreshes and product updates are executed on time with the aid of Project ManagersCollaborating effectively with internal and external partners to ensure all projects meet our protocols (Innovation, legal, quality, inventory, brand, creative, packaging, quality assurance, regulatory, UL, Marks, Store Operations, RISD and logistics)Collaborates with CPI team and is the “face” of the negotiations with the supplier communityManages the current assortment of SB product in assigned categories: ensuring communication on supplier switches, factory changes, specification updates, structure of packaging changes, etc.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree requiredAt least 5-7 years of retail, product development experience with a strong understanding of the Retail/Consumer products industry, merchandising principles and customer experienceAt least 5 years of experience utilizing business analytics (IRI data analysis, ROI, P&L, financial scenario planning, etc.) to build strong business casesAt least 5 years of experience managing multiple projects

Preferred Skills:

Consulting or Product Innovation experience a strong plus but not mandatoryStrong influencing skills both oral and written, underpinned by sound analytical capabilityAbility to derive insights by leveraging customer research, empirical data and analytics and to develop structured hypotheses, even when data is incomplete or imperfectThe successful candidate has strong project management skills and must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, own deliverables end to end, prioritize workload effectively, and thrive in a dynamic environment.Must be willing and able to jump in and get “hands dirty” with detail when necessary
Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence VP/Senior Directors and think on his/her feet. Keen ability to distill complex ideas into simpler frameworks and illustrations

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$82,940.00 - $182,549.40


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
