The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Product Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: + Supporting and contributing as a technical lead for discovery and new product development activities with an expertise in reactive polymer coatings, material science and/or polymer chemistry. + Exploration and development of novel technologies/approaches leading to enable accelerated business growth and ensure competitiveness. + Work with Product Engineering and travelling occasionally to our manufacturing facilities to support the PEs to develop, validate process, product performance and material specification, enable NPI commercialization. + Contributing to change management as it relates to product design changes driven by product/quality improvement, supply changes, regulatory requirements, and cost reduction. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems and to apply/implement new or modified chemistries Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: + Master’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution + Three (3) years of Polymer Science/Engineering, Material Science and/or Polymer Chemistry in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: + Ph.D. in Polymer Science/Chemistry or Materials Science/Engineers degree or higher from an accredited institution. + Experience with reactive coating chemistries and processes. + Adhesive and rheological expertise/experience. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop business relationships and engage with people quickly. Must be an effective team player internally and with customers.
