Job Title: Product EngineerJob Description
Utilize your knowledge of mechanics, engineering, production methods, product specifications, and industry regulations to develop and/or coordinate new products or changes to existing products. Supervise testing and/or field testing and testing personnel. Implement new product changes to determine testing prototypes and requirements. Understand AAMA, Acoustic Hurricane, and/or glazing specifications for building materials. Coordinate vendors and purchasing for production implementation. Develop and maintain up-to-date records for all product lines, including Bill of Materials, fabrication drawings, profile and extrusion drawings, cut sheets, and assembly drawings. Design new and existing products using AutoCAD Inventor.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and coordinate new products or changes to existing products
+ Certify new and existing products
+ Supervise testing and field testing personnel
+ Implement new product changes to determine testing prototypes and requirements
+ Understand and apply AAMA, Acoustic Hurricane, and/or glazing specifications for building materials
+ Coordinate with vendors and manage purchasing for production implementation
+ Maintain up-to-date records for all product lines, including Bill of Materials, fabrication drawings, profile and extrusion drawings, cut sheets, and assembly drawings
+ Design new and existing products using AutoCAD Inventor
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD Inventor or Solidworks
+ 5+ years of experience in the building materials industry, specifically windows and door manufacturing
+ Experience in aluminum fabrication, sheet metal fabrication, and vinyl extrusions
+ Knowledge of CAD software, mechanical engineering, mechanical design, new product development, and engineering validation
+ Understanding of ASTM standards, AAMA, and building codes
+ Project management and product engineering experience
+ Strong knowledge of building regulations
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with molded cast parts, building materials, and test plans
+ Proficient in Solidworks, AutoCAD Inventor, and AutoCAD
+ Strong Excel knowledge
+ Self-starter with initiative
Work Environment
You will be working in a department of six, including engineers, drafts, and technicians. This is a family-owned business with several different product lines and companies locally. The busiest time of year is from September to February. The company sells directly to distributors and focuses on new product development.
