Product Lead - Alpha Complex Instruments, VP

We are seeking a Product Lead to manage New Financial Instruments as a dedicated product line within the Complex Instruments group. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery and lifecycle management of new and innovative financial instruments, including OTC derivatives, structured products, and other complex instruments. The Product Lead will oversee market research, strategy development, client discovery, and implementation, ensuring that these instruments are effectively integrated into Alpha’s front-to-back platform and meet the needs of our diverse client base.

Strategic Leadership and Market Insights

Conduct market intelligence, including research on emerging financial instruments, regulatory trends, and competitive offerings.Lead client discovery sessions to identify demand for new instruments, assess operational challenges, and gather insights on client needs.Develop a comprehensive multi-year product roadmap for new instruments, aligned with client requirements, regulatory demands, and State Street Alpha’s strategic goals.

Product Development and Delivery

Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of new instruments, from ideation to design, development, testing, and go-live.Create and maintain detailed business cases for each instrument, with quantifiable metrics for success, cost/benefit analysis, and ROI evaluation.Manage impact assessments of new instruments on State Street Alpha’s systems and operations, ensuring solutions align with the platform’s architectural standards and design principles.Embed Agile methodologies into the product development process:Lead standups, retrospectives, and sprint planning sessions to ensure progress and resolve roadblocks.Partner with Scrum Masters and development teams to oversee iterative development cycles.Incorporate client feedback through regular demos and checkpoints to ensure alignment with market needs.

Client Implementation and Integration

Act as a key partner in client implementations, ensuring new instruments are seamlessly integrated into client workflows and systems.Leverage client interactions during implementations to establish standards and best practices for delivering complex instruments.Collaborate with internal teams to address operational challenges during implementations and ensure high client satisfaction.

Regulatory and Operational Expertise

Stay informed on global regulatory developments affecting financial instruments (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR, UMR) and ensure compliance is embedded into product offerings.Partner with internal and external stakeholders to design solutions that address operational inefficiencies, mitigate risks, and ensure system resilience.Integrate new technologies (e.g., AI, automation, distributed ledger technology) to enhance product capabilities and streamline workflows.

Collaboration and Leadership

Work cross-functionally with teams across engineering, architecture, operations, and client success to ensure cohesive product delivery.Represent the new instruments product line in executive-level discussions, providing insights into product strategy, market trends, and client feedback.Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What we value

Extensive knowledge of OTC derivatives, structured products, and other complex financial instruments.Proven experience in product management, including strategy development, product delivery, and client implementations.Strong understanding of front-to-back trade lifecycle management, financial systems architecture, and operational workflows.Expertise in global regulatory frameworks affecting financial instruments, such as UMR, EMIR, and Dodd-Frank.Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools, with a track record of leading iterative development cycles.Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams and senior leadership.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Python) to derive insights and support decision-making.Familiarity with emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and DLT within financial services.Prior experience working within a financial services technology platform or a similar business unit.CFA, MBA, or Masters preferred

Salary Range:

$115,000 - $190,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
