Job Description Summary
Develop and lead the company’s business plan to expand into management liability insurance and related executive liability insurance products, and deliver profitable long-term underwriting results for our program carrier.  The Product Leader, Fiduciary/Management Liability will report to the Encore Chief Underwriting Officer..

Job Description

Draft a business plan to underwrite management and executive liability insurance with a goal of long-term profitability.Lead the effort to secure a contract with a program insurance carrier.Serve as the product leader of the division’s management liability insurance underwriting and risk management services, including the creation of a rate and rule manual to be used in conjunction with a new policy form and endorsements. Develop and draft an underwriting model, rates and policy forms for management liability insurance.Develop a risk management model to differentiate SPG’s management liability product from other insurance markets and reduce underwriting losses.Analyze, select, and profitably price risks of varying complexity.Determine terms and conditions of coverage on new and renewal business.Provide underwriting proposal and competitive rate recommendations in a timely manner.Maintain underwriting quality.Achieve overall growth and profit objectives.Examine loss notices received by claims and recommend appropriate action.Assist internal sales force with marketing efforts (agency visits, seminars, etc).Develop and foster relationships with external clients.Develop and foster effective relationships with internal resources to ensure delivery of all related services to clients.Identify opportunities for underwriting improvement and recommend solutions.Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor.Maintain the highest level of customer service.Maintain awareness of management liability, EPL and professional liability industry and insurance trends.Build strong, positive agent relationships to promote profitability and growth of new business and the retention of existing business.Develop, strengthen, and maintain agency/company relations through effective personal, verbal, and written forms of communication.Build strong internal team relationships to promote positive team environment.Work cooperatively and productively with others.Able to handle stress and demands of job.Maintains prompt and regular attendance.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors degree in insurance, finance, business or related field; minimum of 5 years of progressive underwriting experience, with 10+ years experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Employment Practices Liability Insurance Experience; Certification: RPLU, CIC, ARM or other related certification; License: P&C. 

Established/existing relationships with retail and wholesale brokers preferred. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Preferred Certification: RPLU, CIC, ARM or other related certification; License: P&C

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to interpret financial information and reports.          

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to be trained on SPG’s software; must be proficient in Excel/Spreadsheet software, have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, and computers.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee may regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

This job operates in a flexible split between work at home and a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers/scanners.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
