Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Responsible for maximizing the Contour & S-Bend fiber products performance within Corning’s Optical Fiber and Cable (OFC) division business by driving global product line strategies and delivering short & long-term profitability objectives. Lead collaborative engagement across product line management, technology, manufacturing, sales, and marketing to define and execute the global product strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Develops fiber product line strategy and manages the product line through the stages of innovation (product concept - commercialization and life-cycle management)
Leads a global cross-functional, multi-site product team consisting of functional leads from Technology, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to: Develop the product line’s market value proposition, Develop and execute the product line planning process, including the identification of critical projects, prioritization, and resource allocation, Identify the optimal solution to product issues related to performance (i.e., specs, attributes, services), quality, share growth, and customer needs, Create an intellectual property and standards strategy for the product line and Identify opportunities to reduce complexity and implement cost reductions
Drives integration and collaboration across Corning Optical Connectivity teams in fiber, cables, HSDC (hyper scale data centers), and connectivity to achieve strategic business objectives.
Works with Manufacturing and Sales to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and implement cost reductions
Works with the Standards group to set and drive the industry standards strategy for the product line
Addresses new product/special requests by developing a business case (including P&L and balance sheet implications) to determine the feasibility and pricing requirements of the requests
Ensures that requests that do not meet financial objectives are stopped
Manages the obsolescence process, as necessary, to extract maximum value through the end of the product’s lifecycle
Required Education
• Bachelor of Science (4 year) degree or business degree with analytical background and strong potential for technical learning
• Minimum of 8 years' work experience product line management, marketing, manufacturing, or engineering in an engineering based and customer-focused environment
• Demonstrated track record of managing projects and leading multi-functional teams
Desired Experience
• MBA or equivalent demonstrated experience (i.e., extensive experience in business) a strong plus
• Experience managing people
• Work experience in Manufacturing, Development, or Strategy
• Financial analysis and accounting experience
• Participation in, or leadership of, multicultural and/or multi-geographic projects

The range for this position is $148,181.00 - $203,749.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
