Product Line Scheduling Manager Summary

The Product Line Scheduling Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversite of departmental scheduling with the goal to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, meet throughput goals, and improve customer satisfaction through on-time delivery.

Essential Functions

Individual resource scheduling, 2–4-day outlook with hour-by-hour schedule in Gantt chart format (Micro Scheduling).

Departmental area scheduling, 2–3-week outlook with day-by-day schedule in Gantt chart format (Macro Scheduling).

Full department scheduling, 6-to-8-week outlook with week-by-week schedule of all WIP in department in Gantt chart format (Master Schedule).

Work hand in hand with departmental production leaders to develop and implement schedules focusing around the theory of constraint production management.

Maximize efficiency at each resource and reduce waste through minimizing changeover loss to attain departmental throughput goals, and to level load material to dock while focusing on and improving customers satisfaction through on-time delivery.

Work with the Toronto data team to utilize existing technology as well as develop new tools to help in scheduling. The individual development of micro scheduling in excel or other software will be necessary. 

Ability to work with and understand SAP will be required as all scheduling tools will need to communicate and update with live data.  

Work closely with operations, commercial, production control, outside conversion group, and inter-company staff to address any significant exceptions in TIMET’s ability to meet forecasted and actual demand.

Elevate and assist in the removal of any barriers to the production plan to ensure we can support the forecasted production and commercial plans.

Knowledge of the mill operating environment and associated process flows.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred: degree preference is in supply chain management, business, or related field.

APICS certification a plus.

10+ years' experience in Planning, Production Control, or Supply Chain Management in metals manufacturing required

Thorough understanding of plant equipment, processes and procedures.

Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement.

Attention to detail with an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Intermediate to advanced PC Skills: knowledge of SAP, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business journals, technical procedures/data, or governmental regulations.
