Product Manager, Android Media
Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 5 years of experience in product management or a related technical role. + 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch. Preferred qualifications: + Understanding of the Android ecosystem, including different device manufacturers, Android versions, and hardware capabilities. + Familiarity with audio and video codecs (H.264, VP9, AV1, AAC, spatial audio). + Knowledge of media processing techniques and algorithms. + Passion for creating user-friendly and engaging product experiences. + Ability to define and defend product outlook, strategy, and roadmaps. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences. Android Camera and Media is a massive purchase driver for consumers, consistently a top three driver of satisfaction. The Android Camera and Media team’s mission is that users perceive Android as the best place to create, consume and share photos, video and audio through universal everyday user journeys. We achieve this mission by focusing on 3 key areas in the near-term: (1) Core Customers (2) Premium Quality and Experiences (3) Market Ecosystem Standards. As a Product Manager, you will focus on the near, mid- and long-term goal, strategy, and roadmap for the audio and video platform, in particular setting the codec strategy for Android and broader ecosystem to address new and refine existing formats that balances performance and quality. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Learn more about benefits at Google (https://careers.google.com/benefits/) . + Define, articulate, and advocate the product outlook, strategy, roadmap, and key performance indicators for the Android media experience, aligning with overall company goals. + Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and user feedback analysis to identify opportunities and unmet needs in the Android media space. + Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in mobile audio and video technology, codecs, and user behavior alongside conducting user testing and gathering feedback to iterate on product design and functionality. + Write detailed product requirements articulating critical media edit/share/consumption user journeys that clearly articulate the desired functionality and user experience alongside working closely with engineering teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution of product roadmap. + Build strong relationships and drive cross-functional internal and external OEM partners as well as developer engagements to ensure alignment and efficient execution of product roadmap.
