About the Role

The Professional Solutions division is looking for an experienced and innovative Product Manager to perform the definition, development, and lifecycle management of our suite of automation software and development resources.  This includes revenue-producing and revenue-enabling solutions. This position involves working closely with the Senior Product Manager of Control to develop portfolio strategies in line with the long-term strategic vision for this segment.  As a product manager for HARMAN Professional Solutions, you will drive cross-functional teams to bring new products and new features to market that will be used every day by A/V professionals all over the world. You will work closely with our research and development teams to deconstruct problems into actionable items, assist in creating an execution plan, and then will work to keep teams on track.


What You Will Do

Determines customers' needs and desires through a combination of direct customer interaction and by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements and appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.Define detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, product specifications, feature requirements, and wireframes to articulate product vision.Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, and anticipating volume by consolidating input from regional sales organizations.Supports regional sales directors in the product messaging and launch of new products, and to develop product sales.

What You Need

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business from an accredited institution.Minimum 6 years of experience in software product management.Traditional knowledge of A/V control systems, IT management systems, Unified Communication systems, and familiarity with common standardized programming languages to include Java, JavaScript, Python, Groovy, Node-Red, and others. Experience delivering software-defined productized solutions with a focus on SaaS.Skilled at defining and prioritizing product features.Experience leading cross-functional and cross-company teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines.Capable of handling multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and executing them to completion.Having a proactive, goal-oriented approach to decision-making.A strong storyteller and public speaker in front of large, senior groups.Building digital products from the ground up experiencing both successes and failures.

What is Nice to Have

Business Acumen - Business acumen, to gauge not just what can be done but to know what can be profitable, is a key requirement for this role. The ability to manage near-term revenue; costs/risks with long-term product commercialization is a critical requirement for this position.Communication Skills - While it is required this person to be technically skilled, he/she must also be able to communicate effectively with customers and constituents outside the engineering organization. This person must have the ability to promote and explain product ideas to business leaders outside of the product management organization and to external partners and customers.Organizational Leadership - This person should have worked with a significant part of an engineering team. He/She must bring strong people leadership experience up to & including senior technologists.Domain Expertise - Broad technical breadth, including familiarity and/or experience with Audio, Video, Lighting & Control will be an added advantage. Knowledge of audio signal processing or audio technologies is highly desirable, but it is not required for this position.
