Product Manager

 

Overview

 

Cree LED is seeking a Product Manager to lead the development and management of our expanding portfolio of LED components and LED Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs).  This individual will be responsible for driving product strategy, overseeing the entire product lifecycle, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet market demand and align with business goals.  This position will be instrumental in executing business unit strategies for an expanding portfolio of standard and custom PCBA solutions for major OEM lighting manufacturers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in LED technology and PCB design along with proven experience in product management. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Define, execute and maintain the product strategy, positioning and roadmap Set clear objectives and key results to monitor product performance Identify market needs and develop Market Requirement Documents (MRDs) and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) for new product development with prioritized features, corresponding justification, target markets & applications, forecast and business plans Ownership of product life-cycle from new product concept and launch through obsolescence Participate in the development of new commercial processes to support standard and custom-specific LED PCBAs Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing teams to bring new products and product enhancements from concept to market Develop and execute a pricing strategy to meet revenue and margin targets Beta customer programs with early-stage prototypes and samples Customer engagement, presentations and seminars Lead and execute tactical actions in a timely manner on specific products to support the overall business objectives Be an expert on competitor’s capabilities and product positioning in the market. Work with sales on pricing and product specifications for special business opportunities Review product sales forecasts and key accounts, monitor and understand trends and align with overall business unit

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field; MS in similar technical engineering field and/or MBA preferred 5+ years of relevant product management experience, particularly in LED or electronics industry Strong understanding of, and experience with, PCB design and manufacturing processes, as well as LED technologies and applications Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and gain consensus without formal authority Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to blend technical and commercial aspects to deliver a balanced approach to problems Self-motivated with strong drive and proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Strong personal work ethic, sense of ownership, and a resilient can-do attitude to drive projects through completion Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills 

 Location

The preferred location is in Durham, North Carolina at our headquarters, but remote employment will be considered for the right candidate.  

 

Travel

You may be expected to travel to support customer visits, including internationally as necessary 

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in Durham NC is $120,000 - 155,000; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
