Summary
The Product Manager provides strategic marketing leadership for assigned products based on customer insights, market analysis, and regular competitive review. The product manager should be intimate with the P&L of the product lines and identify areas for revenue growth and profit improvement in line with organization long term strategies.
Essential Functions
Maintain an up-to-date business plan for the product line including financial expectations, competitive position, key opportunities, customer focus and project priorities. Develop annual product line strategy to support LRP and budgeting. Provide regular reports on global product line performance. Include Product line financial contribution, major market activity and key project and innovation updates.Oversee product pricing strategy, monitor market pricing and communicate findings for products/ applications within the defined area of responsibility.Develop value pricing models to project and capture the performance valuation of our products and collaborate on system pricing when appropriate.Utilize market research to understand competitive value proposition and cost positions.Identify and prioritize opportunities for new products and business models. Facilitate New Product Development idea generation through market research, field sales and customer outreach. Define priorities and coordinate activities through commercialization.Work with engineering and legal to ensure IP is protected where relevant.Work with operations to contribute to Value engineering (VA/VE) projects.Work with commercial teams to develop growth and market penetration plans based on clear understanding of customer expectations, competitive positioning and strategic business drivers. Utilize professional processes and systems for program development and tracking.Support ongoing product line positioning including marketing communication planning, packaging, sales training, customer value presentations, and other materials as needed.Foster an environment of teamwork; emphasizes the importance of internal collaboration to meet and exceed customers’ expectations.Position Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required (engineering, marketing, or business a plus); master’s degree in marketing or business strongly preferred.
Experience: 5-10 years of product management experience, preferably with an industrial business with similar customer base. Background in developing product line strategies and leading product portfolio management. High proficiency in MS Office suite.
