Product Marketing Specialist

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Product Marketing Specialist will lead the development of positioning, messaging and competitive differentiation for New Product Introductions and Core products, as well as develop commercialization and promotion plans. This person will own the creation of customer-facing and sales-enabling content and work effectively with cross-functional teams – including Product Management, Sales, Engineering & Marketing – to achieve measurable results to help drive growth. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Own and develop product positioning, messaging, and competitive differentiation for new and core product lines  Develop the marketing promotion/commercialization plans and activities including product collateral and campaigns that generate market momentum by attracting and retaining customers Develop compelling collateral that is consistent to our product messaging that clearly describe product features, advantages and benefits across various marketing channels Provide product support to the sales organizations, which includes presentations and training Serve as subject matter expert for all product-related content and questions  Responsible for achieving sales and growth targets by taking a lead role in marketing & promoting the product line  Serve as the champion of new product innovations by working with Marketing counterparts to identify and develop thought leadership messaging and materials for tradeshows, key industry publications, associations and influencers Partner with Product Management to continuously evaluate the competitive landscape and conduct market research in order to communicate the value of Gem’s products/solutions to current and potential customers Work alongside Product Management to develop, implement and sustain a voice of the customer (VOC) network that captures customer feedback, pain points and possible solutions for all product offerings Understand the buying process for each product/solution and partner with Product Management to continuously develop buyer personas for the various market segments Project management work may be required.  Maintain a high level of productivity and morale. Travel up to 25% required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Technical background preferred.  Bachelor's degree in marketing, engineering or related field.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Ability to translate technical product details and capabilities into benefits for buyers and users. Electro-mechanical and/ or sensor knowledge preferred. Strong project management experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to create, maintain and communicate project plans, progress and success through KPIs and metrics  Ability to manage and understand a variety of products and markets, including understanding target audience needs and buyer priorities Perceptive self-starter capable of adapting quickly in a fast-changing environment  Ability to anticipate issues/concerns, troubleshoot problems and proactively institute creative solutions quickly and thoroughly 

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS

May be assigned various projects and responsibilities at the discretion of the Director of Marketing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and work space restrictions. 

The noise level in the work environment is rarely (never/occasionally/frequently) loud.

Employees will be required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include: eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields. Contact lenses may not be allowed in some areas.

The associate must also be willing and able to travel by all forms of transportation.
