Department OverviewProduct Reliability bridges the gap between development engineering, manufacturing, and the customer by understanding fielded product or customer issues then bringing all aspects of the problem together to provide actionable direction for full root cause and resolution of issues.
Job Description

Responsibilities:

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and must also have a high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and is results oriented.

Identify Mobile Video fielded product issues through failure data analysis and collaborative efforts with Quality, manufacturing, support, and deployment teams.

Device logs analysis (Linux based) to identify specific failures, frequency of occurrence, and device status at the time of failure.

Test products (field returns and existing inventory) to reproduce field issues and provide development engineering with specific instructions on reproducing the field failure.

Experience with typical lab equipment -- volt meter, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies.

Develop test methods to aid in identifying the root cause of field issues.

Utilize typical lab equipment to identify root cause of fielded issues (volt meter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.…).

Performing reliability testing including Electrical & Mechanical Stress Testing, Shock/Drop/Vibration Testing, and Environmental testing to reproduce field failures.  

Travel to impacted customers to better understand the product issues and/or implement solutions.

Apply DOE & FMEA methods in identifying root cause and qualifying resolution.

Detailed documentation of testing plans, testing results, and customer impacts.

Knowledge of battery and energy products required with ability to read schematics and technical drawings.

Maintain calm and focus under stressful situations when working with law enforcement customers.

Work independently as well as in cross-functional teams.

Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.

Present findings/recommendations to peers, manager, and senior management.

Required Skills:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related technical equivalent.
Atleast 2+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of Linux is a plus
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and be able to pass criminal background checks required by Motorola customers. 
Must be available to Travel up to 40%


Basic Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related technical equivalent.
Atleast 2+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of Linux is a plus
Must have a current, valid driver’s license
Must be available to travel up to 40%

Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
