This position is offered in the Product Safety Engineering department within Apple's Product Integrity organization. Our mission is to ensure that Apple products are safe for our customers to use worldwide and comply with worldwide safety requirements. Apple's Product Safety Group seeks a high-energy, poised, data-driven, and detail-oriented, hands-on individual with a background in electrical/electronics engineering to support safety engineering design and testing of innovative consumer products. Come join our team!DescriptionDescription- Develop a deep understanding of Apple products and work with cross-functional teams to identify and address related safety requirements and resolve design challenges of new technologies. - Conduct safety compliance testing, report writing, and acquire certifications using scientific methods, conduct design of experiments, and failure analysis. - Own and drive the safety aspects of Apple products - Develop an understanding of manufacturing processes to identify and address potential manufacturing defects that can lead to safety issues. - Work with suppliers to ensure product safety is addressed and maintained during production. - Conduct detailed failure analysis and document lessons learned for future implementationsMinimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in an Engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)5+ years of engineering experience in the safety design of power supplies/power adapters for consumer, medical, military, or space product applications.Proficient in evaluating product safety, product safety testing, and compliance to at least two standards from the following list: IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950, 62368, 62133, and 60065.Safety technical background and hands-on experience in safety certifications of complex products and executing risk analysis to eliminate safety risksSolid understanding of test equipment, test procedures, and agency requirements from the above Safety StandardsExpertise in leading several concurrent high-visibility cross-functional projectsInterpret and negotiate requirements, apply knowledge to new situations, and implement new solutions with customer safety as the priority.Conduct FMEA and Safety Fault Tree AnalysisKey QualificationsKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsPreferred QualificationsMasters/PhD degree in an Engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)10+ years of engineering experience in the safety design of power supplies/power adapters for consumer, medical, military, or space product applications.Proficient in power electronics or circuit designKnowledge and understanding of reliability engineering and statistical/data analysisTechnical writing, data analytics/statistics, and ability to build and execute presentations for Executives.Ability to build and execute presentations for executivesEducation & ExperienceEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
