ntroduction to the job

Within the Global Product Safety team we have to ensure that ASML is developing machinery and Tools that are safe to use and comply to regulations and customer requirements. To achieve this goal the Global Product Safety Tool team enables designers to develop safe & compliant Tools.

The Product Safety Engineer is regarded as a professional expert on product safety, who conveys theories and practices of the professional field to experts and non-experts. Furthermore the product safety engineer is seen throughout the ASML organization as the principle competence on CE requirements for tooling. As Product Safety Engineer you will also collaborate with the Product Safety regulatory & customer compliance office, making sure the safety requirements are meeting the most stringent product safety standards.

Role and responsibilities

As Product Safety Engineer you will be working in close cooperation with the hardware development projects for various Tool lines, being the sparring partner of senior designers on safety & compliance early in the design process and making sure that during the product validation non conformities regarding human safety are absent.

As Product Safety Engineer you will be responsible for:

Assess Tool designs to safeguard that they meet the safety & compliance requirements (international regulations & standards)Issue EU Declarations of Conformity certificates2nd line support for competence organization, consultancy role towards competence leadsAnalyze safety & compliance related issues, come to containment actions and/or solutions within legal frame workCommunicate relevant safety & compliance information to all levels in the organizationNetworking with peers in- and outside ASML (other industries) on safety and implementation issuesSupport the safety compliance regulatory board in making decisions on changes with high ASML impactManage safety information request both from internal customers as well as external organizations (e.g. customer requirements): e.g. share compliance reports and administrate the communicationFacilitate escalation process in case of non-compliance situation

Education and experience

Bachelor or Master degree in technical studies and/or Occupational Health & Safety (EHS) studies.

Experience

Relevant experience (> 5 years) in Product safety and/or complianceKnowledge of international safety regulations (Machinery, Electrical, EMC, ATEX, Pressure, REACH, RoHS, OSHA, NFPA, etc.)Inspection & auditing techniquesKnowledge of Risk assessment techniques
