Product Safety Specialist

Phillips 66 is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Product Safety Specialist to join our Global Product Stewardship & Toxicology organization. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our products by developing and maintaining accurate and comprehensive Safety Data Sheets in accordance with global regulatory requirements. 

Responsibilities May Include: 

Author, review, and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for a wide range of chemical products in compliance with international regulations (e.g., OSHA, REACH, GHS).  Review product labels to ensure compliance and maintain consistency with regulatory requirements and SDS classifications.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Refining, Midstream, Lubricants, Emerging Energy and research and development, to gather necessary data for SDS preparation.  Ensure timely and accurate communication of safety information to internal and external stakeholders.  Maintain and manage SDS databases and document control systems.  Stay current with changes in global chemical regulations and implement updates to SDSs as required.  Assist in the development and implementation of SDS authoring processes and best practices.  Provide training and support to internal teams on SDS-related topics and regulatory requirements.  Other Product Safety responsibilities, as necessary. 


Required Qualifications: 

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country  Bachelor’s degree or higher in Toxicology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physical or Biological Science, or a related field   1 or more years of relevant scientific experience  Proficiency in Microsoft Office software  Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills  Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment  Strong written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications: 

3 or more years of relevant scientific experience   5 or more years of experience in product safety, chemical regulations, laboratory analysis, refining, petroleum products, lubricant products, or other relevant experience  Strong knowledge of global chemical regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA HCS, GHS, REACH)  Professional certification in product stewardship (e.g., SDSRP, CPPS) Proficient in use of SDS authoring platforms (e.g., UL WERCS)   Proficient in database management tools (e.g., Microsoft Access, Alteryx, Power BI)  Experience with SDS authoring for petroleum-based or lubricant products Strong analytical and project management skills
