The Product Specialist II role at Donaldson will focus on product lifecycle management (PLM) processes and cost estimating. This is an enterprise-level role that will allow you to gain exposure to many of Donaldson’s business units and operations within the US and Mexico region. In this role, you will be helping the company develop new products by researching and analyzing costs required to build business cases and deliver customer quotes prior to product launch. Ideal candidates will be able to work out of our Bloomington, MN office and this role is open to all Donaldson employees that meet minimum qualifications.
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver cost estimates on New Product Development (NPD) product releases
Leverage existing data and systems to pull part attributes, lead times, costs, minimum/multiple order quantities, and engineering designs to inform project team of operational requirements
Build upon cost estimating standard process and tools across businesses and manufacturing plants/distribution centers
Maintain standard work and train key users within region as needed
Align with regional cost estimating team on best practices and lessons learned
Document process and work standards to align with Donaldson Business Operating System (DBOS), IS/TS certification
Participate Business Process leadership team meetings by reporting out key performance indicators (KPIs) as defined including: number of days to complete cost estimates workflow, customer satisfaction scores, process improvements, etc
Provide enterprise level support on Donaldson stage gate Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process
Facilitate NPD projects through established stage gate release process.
Partner with all aspects of the business including, but not limited to Product Management, Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Sales, and Finance
Review NPD projects for acceptability and completeness against established standards. Work with appropriate parties to correct errors, document lessons learned, and develop on best practices
Provide support on engineering change requests to product design through standard Change Qualification Process (CQP)
Travel: Up to 10%.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or a technical or business associate's degree with of 4+ years equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Project/Program Management, or Product Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Excel, Enterprise ERP (Oracle), and reporting (BI)
Ability to interpret engineering drawings & bills of materials
Functional knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes
Knowledge of stage gate product release process
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Annual Salary Range: $65,400 – 83,300.
Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance.
