Grifols Diagnostic Solutions is seeking a Product Support Scientist II in San Diego, CA (Rancho Bernardo). The Manufacturing Support Organization supports the industrial business by compliantly and successfully producing NAT-based products in line with commercial cGMPs. The main responsibility for the Product Support Scientist is to provide front-line technical support to commercial manufacturing group for routine manufacturing processes, lead/participate in projects associated with process equipment, process improvements, as well as design, start-up, commissioning, and qualification of new investments. Acts as a primary technical support for Manufacturing and Quality Control product/process failure investigations. May provide assistance for Customer complaint product investigations. Acts as NAT products technical lead for internal and external audits.
To be successful in this position, we are seeking individuals who have a BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering, Physics with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience supporting manufacturing organizations in the manufacturing process, process improvements, product/process failure investigations.
**Primary responsibilities for role:**
+ Designs and executes moderately complex experiments to complete a segment of the overall project and incorporates findings into design of future experiments.
+ Integrates own data with those of others within and outside of the project team.
+ Writes and reviews product documentation.
+ Presents data to external groups.
+ Writes study protocols and reports covering several lines of experimentation.
+ Writes reports covering data and non-data project topics.
+ Operate complex lab equipment and perform routine maintenance/repair.
+ Assists in the establishment of procedures and research methodologies.
+ Provide recommendations and observations to scientific staff.
+ Initiates literature review and searches.
+ Trains others on project assay and serves as a resource for solving product issues.
+ Independently complete failure investigations
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures, established techniques, instruments and equipment.
+ Ability to perform an amplified test
+ Understanding of Universal Precautions and Basic Lab safety
+ Understanding of QSR and GLP
+ Understanding/execution of basic statistical calculations
+ Ability to write study protocols and reports
+ Oligo design
+ Statistical design of Experiments (DOE)
+ Strong knowledge of TNA and amplified nucleic acid technology.
**Education:**
BA/BS in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, engineering, physics
**Experience:**
BS: 4-6 years
**Equivalency:**
Research Associate with 10+ years relevant experience.
**Occupational Demands:**
May occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise manipulate objects up to 25 pounds in weight, and/or lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise manipulate objects up to 10 pounds in weight frequently or continuously. May be exposed to biohazardous materials, high titer heat-treated materials, and potentially infectious materials/waste. May be exposed to radioactive material, corrosive chemicals, flammable materials, and possible inhalation hazards.
**Pay Scale**
The estimated pay scale for this Product Support Scientist II role based in San Diego, CA, is $110,492 to $130,000 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
