• Identify and evaluate alternative components for cost reduction, end-of-life substitution, product

quality improvement, and/or increased manufacturability

• Review and validate design and life cycle component changes for impact on function, performance

and regulatory requirements

• Perform product quality evaluations

• Present design proposals engineering team

• Work with layout experts to create prototypes of design change proposals

• Perform electrical and functional tests on prototypes

• Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, component vendors and

suppliers, and quality engineers to maintain and improve quality of existing products

• Monitor and understand design change implications to agency certifications

• Perform root cause failure analysis for returns from the field and generate reports; suggest

solutions as necessary
