Product Systems Design Engineer

**DESCRIPTION**
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Investigate issues related to the Value Package Introduction (VPI) program, understanding causal mechanisms, recommending actions, and owning problem resolution from a design perspective.
+ Support execution of critical design processes, including Critical Design Decisions, System Design and Validation, and Design Reviews.
+ Utilize tools such as iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, and ANSYS Workbench to facilitate high-quality design decision-making.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate design intent and resolve product issues effectively.
+ Own problem resolution for moderately complex components and systems, gaining experience and expertise in the role.
+ Create comprehensive design specifications, including solid models and engineering bills of materials, that meet Cummins and industry standards.
+ Engage in product problem-solving to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
+ Maintain configuration management of product artifacts and ensure integrity throughout the product life cycle.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Experience:**
+ 5-8 years of relevant work experience preferred, including internships or co-op positions in a technical discipline.
+ Familiarity with automotive parts design and application engineering is a plus.

+ **Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis:** Proficient in creating CAD models and conducting system-level analyses.
+ **Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems:** Strong understanding of mechanical systems and design requirements across lifecycle stages.
+ **Product Problem Solving:** Effective at identifying root causes and implementing robust, data-driven solutions.
+ **Collaboration and Communication:** Ability to build partnerships and communicate effectively across diverse teams.
+ **Systems Thinking:** Capable of defining and analyzing complex systems to drive project deliverables.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field or equivalent experience.
**Skills**
+ Proficiency in MS Office and CAD tools such as CREO.
+ Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, DFMEA, and DFSS (preferred).
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
