Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Clerk position coordinates material movement within the Norwalk plant. This position supports the supply chain vision to have Michael Foods, Inc. be recognized by our customers, suppliers, and fellow Michael Foods employees as leaders of the most effective, responsive, and progressive supply chain organization in the food processing industry, while strategically contributing to profitable growth. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all data-entry associated with inventory, including raw products for processing (liquid egg tankers); rework products, returned products, quality status changed, and any other corrections or adjustments. Perform and record daily, weekly, and monthly liquid inventory sheets to verify usage; cycle counts to verify all product, packaging, and ingredients are accounted for. Partial and final confirmation of semi-finished and finished process orders. Perform SAP duties which require the creating and closing of all production orders on the floor. Will possess knowledge associated with material management and distribution. Manages daily production transactions for inventory control of raw, semi-finished, and finished goods. As well as daily liquid reconciliation. Accurately communicate information both written and verbally with other Michael Foods employees located in various facilities. Analyzes data while identifying problem areas. Compiles data and generates reports by entering data into computer, determining information to include in reports, verifying data and distributing reports to appropriate parties. Required to attend monthly safety training, possess knowledge of company safety policies, and complete information necessary in achieving the quarterly safety incentives. Provide coverage in the absence of the Production Supervisor/Lead. This will include understanding plant operations and being able to schedule as well as manage day to day operations of the plant. Create purchase orders for operation and maintenance functions and ensuring proper approvals, appropriate taxation and adherence to MFI Corporate policies and procedures. Ensures compliance and segregation of duties to SOX and MFI Co corporate policies and procedures. Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Ensure regulatory compliance at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form. Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification Driver’s license PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: 6 months experience operating computers and general office equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Knowledge of data entry procedures. Knowledge of manufacturing practices (GMP, PPE) Skills in operating basic office machinery. Ability to work in a cold environment Ability to obtain a powered industrial truck (PIT) certification Skills in communication and interpersonal relations as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
