REPORTS TO:     Assistant General Manager

FLSA STATUS:    Full Time Hourly

Pay:                       $27-$30

Summary
 

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for Production Coordinator for The Greek Theatre. The Production Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all technical stage aspects at The Greek Theatre which include, but are not limited to, electrics, audio, video, fly, crewing, logistics and preventive maintenance for all stage systems, personnel and equipment for licensees of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Confers with the Management Team to determine requirements of forthcoming eventPrepare and coordinate with the event manager and client on all "back of house"  and “day of show” event informationCoordinate all backstage logistics for shows with local Stagehand Employees Union representativeAdministers policy for operation and use of building for stage shows, concerts and other similar eventsMeets with prospective clients of the facility to plan their use of the stagePrepare the event estimate and update the client and event file with changes in the estimateOversee load-ins, set ups, show runs and strikes for all shows to include community events, rentals and national concert toursSupervises all stage related vendors and local stagehand crewsOversees shows to assure proper use of equipment and facilitySupervises the maintenance, repair and upkeep of sound equipment, stage, electrical and mechanical systemsAssists in the general supervision of the stagehouse during eventsCoordinate "front of house" details for specified eventsSupervise a preventative maintenance program for all venue light, sound and backstage equipmentRecommend capital purchases or improvements to venue General ManagerProvide for the training, safe working conditions and welfare of stage employees in accordance with SMG policies, union guidelines and applicable EEO and OSHA regulationsServe as Event Manager on Duty as requiredKnowledge of organization, regulations and procedures involved in operation of facility stage functionsAbility to communicate stage requirements for various clients during eventsAll other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

4 year degree in stage production with technical emphasis or professional equivalence1 year minimum experience working in a live performing arts venue/ center/theaterKnowledge and experience working with union stagehand personnelKnowledge of operations, maintenance and stage managementWorking knowledge of applicable OSHA, state and other work environment and safety regulationsWorking knowledge of fire and public safety issuesPrior supervisory experience preferred

Skills and Abilities  

Ability to recognize the organization, regulations, and procedures involved in the operation of the stage functions; principles and techniques of sound reinforcement, stage mechanics, and stage management; stage requirements for various clients during shows and events; electrical and sound companies in the area for the purpose of acquiring parts and equipmentSupervises and trains personnel in the maintenance and operation of the stage equipment; work with prospective users of the venue to plan their needs; design and execute detailed plans for stage systems upgrading and useMaintain effective working relationships with other employees, the public and users of the facility Exceptional communication skills both verbal and writtenExcellent organizational, planning and problem-solving skillsProfessional presentation, appearance and work ethic

Qualifications

Must have attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyMust have strong leadership, communication and organizational skills necessary for planning and directing coverage at eventsMust have strong customer service and interpersonal skillsMust be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected eventsMust have the ability to train, plan, assign, and direct work and motivate union stage personnel and front-of-house personnelUnderstand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches and preventive maintenance schedulesMust be able to prepare, analyze and operate within Department BudgetMust have good computer skills
