Production Coordinator
Job Title: Production Coordinator I - Non-ExemptJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Production Coordinator I to join our team. This entry-level position plays a crucial role in maintaining and coordinating schedules for material requirements and availability for the manufacture of industrial and commercial products. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to compile and manage records, expedite material flows, and assist in identifying and correcting material shortages. This role involves close collaboration with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure smooth procurement and scheduling processes. Responsibilities + Maintain schedules for material requirements and availability to support production control. + Compile records concerning quantity, cost, and type of material received, shipped, in stock, or in production. + Expedite the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules. + Assist in determining possible and actual shortages and may initiate corrective actions. + Purchase, plan, and schedule the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related materials through production and inventory processes. + Identify raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering and production specifications and schedules. + Coordinate and follow up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement scheduling and movement of materials and services. + Compile information to stay informed on price trends and monitor supplier performance. + Use knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering departments to alert proper authorities regarding potential problems and appropriate remedial actions. Essential Skills + Basic job knowledge of production-related systems and procedures. + Inventory tracking and data input. + Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with production scheduling and inventory management. + Familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems. Work Environment This position typically requires little to no prior experience and involves working on well-defined clerical tasks in a distribution center. The role is closely supervised with tasks following standard procedures. The work environment is routine with clearly prescribed solutions for problems and issues. The position focuses on self-development and requires effective communication within the immediate job area to obtain and provide information with little need for explanation or interpretation.
