Production Engineer
As the Production engineer you will be responsible for, but not limited to, providing process and production engineering and technical support to a unit within a manufacturing facility in the Precipitated Silica business. This position will work closely with Area Manager, Production Technician and unit operators to maintain and improve production and safety within the assigned area. 


Key Responsibilities

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize day-to-day unit operations and performance of assigned production area and provide technical assistance as requested. Supports unit shutdowns and outages with strong technical input. Provides engineering support for various plant capital projects from conception through start-up. Prepare Scope of Work for new capital projects. Function as Project Sponsor on specific capital projects. Apply technical knowledge to develop and implement process improvements or capital improvements to drive long-term success of the operating unitIdentify and lead continuous improvement projects with an emphasis on cost reduction, production improvement, energy savings, and waste minimization Participate in and complete action items for root cause analysis reviews as assigned.Monitor, track, and provide inputs for the production, capital, and operating expense budgets Execute environmental calculations and manage related reporting requirementsWorking collaboratively with both onsite and offsite teams including Maintenance/Reliability, Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls (IE&C), Accounting, Commercial Logistics, and VendorsTrack and provide input for improvements for Equipment Availability / Reliability for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).Understand energy requirements for production unit to participate in sustainability improvement efforts

Qualifications

Possess a B.S. Engineering (Chemical/Process concentration preferred but not required)Have a history of, and commitment to safe work practicesExperience in site manufacturing/operations, process engineering; capital project knowledge beneficial but not requiredKnowledge or experience in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies beneficial but not requiredPossess attention to detail and communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to interact effectively with associates at all levels of the organization.Experience in project planning, execution and budgeting process beneficial but not requiredPossess experience working as a member of a team of professionals
