Production Engineer:
This role will still be expected to perform process engineering duties as called upon, including maintaining/updating/creating P&ID and process flow diagram design documents; interlock and control development; design calculations to support hazard reviews; and equipment procurement. Furthermore, champion the Long Beach engineering document management system. This position will support HSSE site initiatives and compliance details associated with day to day manufacturing. Position will function as a technical liaison between environmental and process safety on items as they pertain to day to day operations (vessel turn overs, restricted batch manufacturing, batch specific pollution control equipment, etc.). This position will also be responsible for measuring Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) data as defined by the group leadership. Production engineer will be responsible for identifying key OEE improvement ideas and work with site engineering on project implementation and effectiveness measurements.We count on you for:
Perform feasibility studies for technology transfers and new product introduction. Includes assessment of current equipment capabilities and capital requirements. Provide process related support to incident investigations, process deviations, and MOC’s. Identify process variations and implement measures to reduce such variations, and track effectiveness of reduction measures. Assist with analyzing process data and quality critical parameters for control of manufacturing process. Investigate off-grade batches. Identify root cause, reports findings, and implemented action items. Prepare/update/create/manage flow diagrams, reaction sheets, P&ID’s, and equipment and control specifications. Provide training to maintenance and production employees on unit operations, chemistries, and batch recipe or DCS changes/enhancements in regard to production. Responsible for day-to-day troubleshooting associated with production. Provide local expertise and support for the DeltaV Control system including programming and troubleshooting Provide process confirmation and feasibility studies to product scale-ups in pilot reactor. Provide process input to creation of manufacturing batch sheets and work in collaboration with Lab Manager for plant/lab unity. Must be able to comply with all Syensqo safety rules and company policies. Hold contractors and fellow employees accountable for safety compliance. Be able to research and understand local EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) regulations. Participate, coordinate in and/or lead process hazard reviews, pre startup safety reviews, and management of change and provide process expertise. Continually assess current processes and operations to ensure local, federal, and corporate regulations are met. Act as the site leader role model. Participate in employee engagement activities and be a champion for safety and compliance.You will bring:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related field +5 years of experience in chemical, petrochemical, refinery operations Must have process design understanding of analytical, flow, level, pressure, temperature, and weigh system instruments as well as pumps, tanks and pressure vessel design Individual must be organized, systematic, independent, and a self-motivator Prioritize, schedule, inspect work and (re)direct resources as necessary across multiple tasks Ability to successfully work with of automation and control systems Strong ability to read, understand and develop P&ID's, reaction sheets, process flow diagrams, and other engineering documents Engineering experience with projects and conformance with approved design, environmental, and safety standards in chemical plant environment Capable of field work as needed to collect and verify data Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to create procedures and train operations personnel on control systems Ability to lead process improvement and awareness at the plant. In-depth knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software, engineering spreadsheets/calculations, SAP experience preferred.You will get:
The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $103,360-129,200 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives. 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations. Additional Information:
The position will also provide field follow-up and start-up support. This could range from a combination of activities including hands-on testing, training, documentation of assigned pre-startup safety review items, and development of long-term preventive maintenance checklists to support facility’s Mechanical Integrity program for electrical / instrumentation on new process
