Job Description
The Production Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, tracking line efficiencies, coordinating continuous improvement projects, supporting equipment installations, and monitoring changes to ensure positive impact on production. This individual will be the primary support person for the packaging facility, managing all 10-15 lines.
ResponsibilitiesReview daily production data to determine priority lines.Buy and sell equipment, and understand problems when they arise.Implement changes and improvements for manufacturing operations to meet delivery and increase efficiencies.Collaborate with the maintenance team on equipment breakdowns and general repairs, providing root-cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.Address ongoing problems by changing processes to improve equipment reliability, speeds, yields, production reliability, quality, and safety.Review customer changes for different packaging and ensure production is set up to support customer requests.Support documentation efforts for IQ/OQ/PQ.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Engineering Management)Experience with pharmaceutical packaging/consumer goods packaging such as bottling, case packaging, and labelingKnowledge of quality systems and FDA regulated environmentsExperience in troubleshooting machinery/equipment/components and pinpointing root causesAbility to read and understand drawings, flowcharts, and schematics related to system design and documentationProficiency in Lean Principles, Six Sigma, Project Management, and statistical analysisProficiency in AutoCADAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in project management and staying organized with multiple projectsHands-on working knowledge of machines and equipmentAbility to work with specialists on the floor, engaging operators and implementing their inputExperience in saving drawings and part information, placing orders, and verifying they meet requirementsWork Environment
Work hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with some flex hours required a couple of times a month to oversee and discuss production trends with the 3rd shift, which may require being in between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM. There is typically overlap with the 2nd shift starting at 3:00 PM. The role offers a lot of autonomy, allowing the individual to make decisions on priorities and take action based on identified opportunities for improvement. Training will be provided by the current person covering the site, and access to Udemy courses will be available after six months. The company offers opportunities for upward mobility and a more autonomous working environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $52.88/hr.
