Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. This role involves leading a small team and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize production workflows, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, ensuring high performance, engagement, and professional growth. Set team goals aligned with organizational objectives and track progress through key performance indicators (KPIs). Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented culture within the engineering team and across departments Process Design and Optimization: Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency and quality. Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction. Develop and document standard operating procedures for manufacturing processes and ensure adherence. Production Support: Provide day-to-day support for manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting and resolving process or equipment issues. Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth workflow and minimal downtime. Monitor production metrics and adjust processes as needed to meet performance targets. Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained in good working order and perform regular inspections. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and maximize production output. Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance activities. Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality assurance team to implement quality control procedures and standards. Identify root causes of quality issues and work on corrective and preventive actions to resolve them. Establish process metrics and track performance to ensure products meet or exceed quality requirements.Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement by utilizing lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other methodologies. Lead or participate in kaizen events to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce waste. Analyze production data to identify trends and areas for further improvement. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments, implementing corrective actions where needed. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the manufacturing team. New Product Introduction (NPI): Work with design and development teams to transition new products from concept to full-scale production. Develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures for new product introductions. Support the scaling up of production for new products while maintaining quality and cost targets. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, logistics, and management, to achieve project goals. Provide technical support and training to staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to report on project progress, challenges, and solutions. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a industrial production environment. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality standards. Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and production management tools. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or related process improvement methodologies. Experience with automation and robotics in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ERP systems, such as SAP, Navision or Oracle, for production planning and management.
