Production (Grain Handler)

Position Summary
The Grain Handler is responsible for daily grain production including but not limited to grain receiving, conditioning, and storage for both outside and plant production in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures. The position functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Position Responsibilities:
• Probe grain bins, test production samples, and format corresponding reports to management.
• Operate equipment necessary to transfer popcorn from grain bins into the plant.
• Complete the necessary paperwork related to incoming material, production inspection, and bills of lading.
• Learn and follow production schedule set for fulfilling customer orders.
• Maintain supplies for plant production.
• Assist with fumigations of grain bins.
• Monitor facility for any food safety, quality issues, or occupational safety concerns.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area always.
• Follow all policies and procedures on safety, cleanliness, and BRC/FDA regulations.
• Assist in other areas of plant operations as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
• Understanding of grain handling equipment
• Understanding of food safety and quality guidelines
• Able to handle multiple tasks
• Able to read and follow the shipping schedule
• Ability to operate Powered Industrial Trucks
• Ability to climb grain bins
• Ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written
• Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds throughout an 8 hour shift
• Ability to lift above shoulder level
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist
• Ability to tolerate fluctuating seasonal temperature conditions
• Must be able to stand for 8-12 hours a day with adequate breaks
Physical setting
• Primarily outside year round
• Extended hour during annual harvest, September to November.
• Entering grain bins regularly while abiding by thorough safety procedures.
