Entry Level- Lab Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to work with chickens and assist with animal husbandry. The successful candidate will process SPF chicken embryos, cell cultures, animal products, and microbial cultures, while producing antigens and reagents such as viruses, mycoplasma, and microbial organisms. The role also involves preparing media, buffers, and solutions, as well as lab documentation, packing and shipping lab reagents, waste disposal, glassware preparation, and ordering supplies. Responsibilities + Work with chickens and assist with animal husbandry. + Process SPF chicken embryos, cell cultures, animal products, and microbial cultures. + Produce antigens and reagents (viruses, mycoplasma, and microbial organisms). + Prepare media, buffers, and solutions. + Maintain lab documentation. + Pack and ship lab reagents. + Dispose of waste and prepare glassware. + Order laboratory supplies. Essential Skills + Laboratory experience + Pipetting + Sterile technique + Centrifuge operation + Biology knowledge + Quality assurance + Microbiology proficiency + Sample preparation and collection + Media preparation + Reagent preparation + Aseptic technique + Autoclave use Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) + Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) in life science or related discipline preferred Work Environment - Monday- Friday 730AM-330PM - no weekends/holidays While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to chemicals and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, and use fingers and hands. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
