Job DescriptionSUMMARY
Controls the process, maintains quality standards and ensures continuous improvement of the total blow mold and injection process to include: blow mold, packaging equipment, injection machines, and resin systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Leads the production team members assigned to the shift and is the first point of contact for operators.
2. Ensures operations are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Plastics USA Inc. safety procedures and ensures team members are working in a safe manner and identifies and corrects unsafe work practices.
3. Ensures plant quality standards are being met and maintained by the department.
4. Controls the process of multiple blow mold machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
5. Evaluates and improves operator’s skill level and assist in training operators.
6. Troubleshoots and performs adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions.
7. Assists with new machine setups.
8. Performs preventive maintenance on machines.
9. Reviews process data daily to ensure department is meeting or exceeding efficiency requirements.
10. Completes downtime reports and error logs.
11. Effectively communicates issues to the shift supervisor, maintenance technicians and operations manager.
12. Operates machines and completes all duties of the machine operator in their absence.
13. Provides coverage for operator breaks.
14. Ensures the department maintains a clean work environment.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. Safety glasses are required to be worn. The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
AUTHORIZATION
1. Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety.
2. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained.
3. Ability to shut down any if it is down three times in one hour for the same mechanical problem.
4. Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment.
5. Initiate Corrective Actions for violations of Company policies.
6. Recommend hiring, termination and promotions of subordinates.
7. Approve expenditures up to pre-determined amount identified by corporate guidelines without prior approval of Department Manager.
