Effectively plans and implements work for assigned production department ensuring parts or materials and manpower are available for the department to perform the work.  Requires knowledge, skill and ability to perform and fill in for any position in the department and can perform equipment setup. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for product quality, workmanship and methods applications, meeting production schedules and general departmental operations consistent with the company’s manufacturing objectives.

 

Organizes and assign work; train and guide employees in proper methods of running jobs

 

Anticipate production problems, e.g. unavoidable delays, material shortages, equipment malfunctions, etc. and where feasible devise and implement procedures to offset loss of man hours and schedule interruptions.

 

Coordinate repairs of equipment to avoid excessive downtime.

 

Police use of safety devices, equipment, departmental housekeeping, and maintain constant alert for hazardous conditions.

 

Maintain conformance with Company work rules and regulations. 

 

Provides other support to production and management as required. 

 

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.  Minimum  of  3  years experience in a preparatory position of similar work.   Must be able to use scales and measurement instruments, and perform SPC.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.                      

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and ability to key critical data into CMS with accuracy and thoroughness.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Position requires leadership capabilities in keeping the department/production line running.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
