The Opportunity

The position of Production Maintenance Manager is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets Business Unit located at Westbrook, Maine.  This role will manage the maintenance department technician’s daily activities to ensure that day to day maintenance activities is carried out in accordance with company standards.  Work closely with production and engineering management to effectively prioritize daily work activities to accomplish daily production and maintenance objectives.  Provide training to maintenance technicians for repairs and maintenance on Production equipment along with overall system operation and trouble shooting and diagnosis.

What You’ll Work On

Management of the 24x7 maintenance department.Coordinates support/resources for production and non-production work activities.Appraises performance of direct reports inclusive of annual performance reviews.Leads routine, periodic and special inspections to determine repairs needed or corrective actions taken to prevent breakdowns, unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency Rules and Regulations.Improves Production Equipment change-over as dictated by schedule or requested by shift supervisor (as needed or directed to best meet departmental objectives).Interprets blueprints, equipment manuals, layouts and wiring diagramsSupports the effort of preparing documentation regarding Preventive Maintenance and Machine Operation through effective communication and collaboration with EngineeringSets up and operates all equipment needed to perform assigned tasks.Escorts and assists as necessary, outside repair persons in the performance of their contractual obligations.  Escorts Agency testing technicians to assure timely completion of their tasks as it relates to production equipment.Maintains appropriate records, keeps inventory of and orders spare parts and shop materials to effect proper repairs on all equipment.Provides floor presence on all 4 shifts to ensure proper response to manufacturing sisuFunctions as a key member of both the production & maintenance team and assists as necessary to accomplish production goals, and through-put initiatives.Responsible for implementing any safety improvements required by the engineering team

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly manages employees in Production Maintenance. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

COMPETENCIES:

Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.Familiarity with formal preventative maintenance programAbility to effectively communicate and coach employee performance.Knowledgeable in pneumatic and electromechanical equipment design methodologies and fundamental operations.Ability to quickly grasp new ideas and techniques.Knowledge of inventory control and asset management including spare part list development, preventative maintenance, and appropriate SOP’s pertaining to asset acquisition, validation, calibration and retirement.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of experience and education5+ years’ experience in maintenance management. Hands-on electro-mechanical repair, rebuild, field service experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering5+ years of supervisory/management experience.5+ years of diverse experience in high volume production setting.Prior experience working in a company operating under ISO, FDA, or similar quality systems or regulations.

The base pay for this position is $85,300.00 – $170,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
