Production Manager, Optical Shop

We are seeking a Production Manager for our Optical Shop in our Budd Lake, NJ facility where we produce optical components. This role will support production on multiple shifts, but standard work/office hours are expected.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership of ~25 team members for the Optical crystal value chain across 2 shifts Supervise the Coordinators on various product lines and production goals Supervise the Technicians to ensure adherence to production schedules based on demand and business needs. Interface with Planning, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Facilities, and Engineering to understand and execute on departmental and business goals Organize all Production Operations to ensure that Output Productivity targets are achieved and that all relevant Health, Safety and Hygiene Standards are observed Direct and control all Operations Staff to ensure they are properly motivated, trained and developed, and carry-out their responsibilities to the required standards Develop all necessary guidelines and procedures to ensure that plant and equipment are effectively maintained to ensure maximum production efficiency Develop and maintain good working relationship with internal customers, support groups and peers to ensure cross functional engagement to Production targets and a harmonious relationship within the plant Initiates and drives resolution to operational issues and resolve permanently  Develop and Maintain 5S+ in the shop floor  Monitor and control operating cost to ensure they do not exceed budget Responsible for team members performance improvement and career development Ensure compliance to ISO9001 system and procedures Optimize WIP Inventory for FGI and Materials to meet target Inventory Turns

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a relevant Engineering or Science field or equivalent work experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment 10 years of experience in a technical product manufacturing or people management position Previous managerial/leadership experience Knowledge of Microsoft excel, Word and PowerPoint Prior experience utilizing an ERP system

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in optical crystal manufacturing Previous work experience or training in Lean Manufacturing or six sigma principles Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop employees by maintaining a positive work atmosphere, encouraging top performance and a driving a culture of continuous improvement Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and listening skills Sound decision-making skills with attention to detail and consideration of different perspectives
