Production Manager

Hexcel is currently seeking a Production Manager for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Fibers location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Drive a culture of safe work, ensuring proper safety practices and methods are in place and verifying that they are being followedManages staffing levels and provides headcounts with schedules to meet the production projected demands given estimated capacities/capabilities.  Properly and efficiently schedule and plan for production, process changes, maintenance requirements, operator training and process line cleaning.Develop, upgrade and implement production techniques through procedures and training activities to ensure uniform practices are employed in all areas.Monitor performance of production employees, providing recognition, constructive feedback and corrective action as needed.  Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure fair and prompt implementation of Hexcel disciplinary actions as needed.  Support Human Resources policies and handbook, ensuring consistency in administering policies and procedures.  Provide support and lead production in positive employee relations initiatives.Provide manufacturing expertise for Process Engineers in the design and implementation of new or improved production equipment for increased capacity or capability.  Seek ways to improve production processes and methods.Troubleshoot manufacturing and material problems and provide support as necessary in coordination with Quality Manager, Process Engineer, or technical support.Maintain quality standards to minimizing waste and scrap using continuous improvement techniques.  Develop and implement quality standards and practices to ensure uniform application amongst all production areas.  Deliver timely on the production schedule to ensure the customer demand is satisfied.Position required to lead manufacturing improvement teams and coordinate activities among multiple team leaders.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business, technical field or related discipline preferred5+ years of management/supervisory experience in the field of manufacturing - process, staffing, and technical aspects of continuous workflow processes preferred.  5+ years of management/supervisory experience in military operations also considered.Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems required – experience with AX2012 preferred.SPC techniques and programs experience preferred.Lean or Six Sigma experience and an understanding of the principles and a willingness to apply the methodologies.Proven capabilities to improve processes and metrics through continuous improvement.Demonstrated oral and written communication abilities with ability to speak to large groups and to provide effective group and individual training.Demonstrated self-motivation with excellent interpersonal skills.Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills in manufacturing processes.
