Scope and Responsibilities:

The Production Manager is responsible for the operations of all production areas within their department to ensure that volume, cost, and quality standards are achieved. Plans and establishes work schedules, staffing requirements and production sequences to maximize productivity. Additionally, provides production process analysis and makes recommendations on solutions to process improvements. Familiar with a variety of field’s concepts, practices, and procedures (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, 5S, etc.). The Production Manager manages the staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Responsibilities include:

Manage the day-to-day production process, ensuring the utmost accuracy and highest quality of work. Ensure a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff. Leverage all data available to develop and maintain schedules, ensuring the product deliverables or project milestones are met, all while adhering to approved budgets and deadlines. Organize departmental management structure and manage, coach, and develop managers, supervisors and team leads for optimal performance. Develop a culture of empowerment and accountability. Develop and prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly objectives, including business plans, improvement plans, KPI operational goals, KPI growth goals, and customer satisfaction objectives. Continuous improvement of business processes through a strong commitment to lean manufacturing principles. Develop visual management to translate shop floor processes and production statuses into easy-to-understand visual overviews. Analyze specifications to ensure that all order requirements, quality expectations, and delivery dates are clearly identified and achieved. Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification, and procurement. Implement and enforce quality control, tracking programs and problem solving to meet quality objectives. Identify and share training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills. Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution, and management. Collaborate across departments to share best practices for continuous improvement while making recommendations on how to improve our systems and processes. Responsible to develop and execute productivity improvement plans to achieve the budgeted financial results. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and skills requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish preferred. Previous 5 years’ experience in production and manufacturing processes as an individual contributor and 2-3 years’ supervisory experience may be required. Strong process engineering experience in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred. Excellent project management, time management, decision- making, and problem-solving skills to manage complex processes. Knowledge of quality systems/standards, health & safety compliance/standards, and process improvement techniques. Proven ability to establish a high performing manufacturing team; evaluating and reconfiguring as necessary to create a maintainable and collaborative group. Competent people leader who manages, mentors, and develops direct reports while earning their respect. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others. Proficiency with MS Office, including spreadsheet, reporting, technical research, and presentation skills. Ability to quickly build trusting relationships, gain credibility, and partner with leaders and peers.
