Main Responsibilities include consistent demonstration of the ability to lead and perform on the following:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and interface with regulatory agencies: Lead efforts to observe all company safety rules and regulations, ensuring adherence to standards set by regulatory bodies. Regularly communicate with agencies to stay updated on compliance requirements. Maintain product quality and adjust production plans to meet customer needs: Oversee the production process to ensure high-quality output. Make necessary adjustments to production schedules and methods to align with customer specifications and demands. Participate in weekly scheduling and daily production meetings: Actively engage in weekly meetings to coordinate schedules between maintenance and production teams. Attend daily morning meetings to discuss production status, address issues, and align on priorities. Ensure quality work from operations personnel: Monitor the performance of operations staff to ensure they adhere to quality standards and best practices. Provide training and support as needed. Keep plant running during breakdowns and provide feedback to teams: Coordinate efforts to maintain plant operations during equipment failures or other disruptions. Offer constructive feedback to both maintenance and operations teams to enhance performance. Knowledge of operational and people management: Apply expertise in managing both operational processes and personnel to achieve organizational goals. Utilize best practices in leadership and team management. Experience in mining/heavy manufacturing, especially kilns Assess and resolve organizational and people issues; provide coaching and mentoring. Strong organizational, problem-solving: Exhibit excellent organizational abilities, effectively solve problems, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure smooth operations. Customer service focus with a commitment to continuous improvement Improvement Projects Lead and manage improvement projects aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Analyze current processes and identify areas for enhancement. Implement and monitor changes to ensure successful outcomes. Drives active safety engagements among team using formal safety stand-downs, SLAMs, and shift meetings. Makes routine field walks to inspect plant and ensure all processes are in good working order. Establishes and manages expectations for housekeeping, greasing, and equipment inspections. Drives accountability and removes barriers to completing these objectives.Basic requirements
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mining, Business or related field 2+ years Manager experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment; previous experience as department manager or superintendent for larger facilities would also be a fit; industry background in manufacturing related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants, etc. preferred. Extensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, continuous manufacturing and production processes, and working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing Positive & proactive attitude with ability to address issues and implement solutions. Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behavior-based management. Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills.
