As Production Manager you will help transform the chemical manufacturing culture into an efficient and effective workplace, implementing processes and tools for Continuous Improvement or Total Production Management (TPM) strategies. We are seeking a manager with experience in food, beverage, or chemical production who enjoys developing people and seeing them grow in their careers. The Production Manager leads a team of 8 Production Team Leaders and approximately 60-80 hourly employees (batch mixers, bulk fillers and line operators).

Lead by example to evolve the safety culture to achieve 0 incidents, cultivate 100% employee participation and reinforce the one safety message to all of the workforceCoach the production team members to embrace new, efficient and sustainable practices. Develop the leadership team to be able to think independently and manage associates effectively. Inspire the department to reach high standards of operation to save time, reduce manufacturing waste and work toward becoming a world class organization.Manage the development and implementation of standard work or SOPs and integrate tools with the goal of increasing productivity, efficiency and employee engagement.Promote sustainability while you manage the production of Ecolab’s innovative custom-shaped, color coded ware washing products.Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction. Provide direction, training, and development as needed. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager, and review disciplinary action by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues. Support plant union negotiations, as applicable.Develop strong working relationships with Plant Leadership team members and other associates to meet plant goals.
Safety:
Role model safety behaviors and practices, reinforce correct behaviors by regular Behavioral Safety Observations with feedbackEnsure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, bring up any Health & Safety problems, resolve and escalate as appropriateEnsure the team operates to regulatory safety and environmental standardsThrough the correct allocation of resources, ensure housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained
Service:
Know the daily production plan, taking appropriate action to safeguard completionManage the team's resources to deliver manufacturing execution - tracking performance and using root cause analysis for resolving or escalating issues as neededAllocate resource dependent on business prioritiesSavings:
Delivering and improving site KPIs through formal loss identification and eradicationRecommend equipment upgrades/changes to improve line efficiencies and performance
People:
Role model behavioral standards for teamProactive performance management of the teamPromote a culture of continuous improvementCoach team personnel in site standards and competencies. Mentor new team members and ensure resources are allocated based on competencyEffective and timely communication within the team (e.g. briefings, updates etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Minimum 5 years' manufacturing experience Minimum 3 years' manufacturing supervisory experienceMinimum 3 years' production experience in a food, chemical, beverage or related batch and ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.Minimum 1 year of experience in at least 2 operations functional areas, e.g. Production, Distribution, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Compliance, or HRImmigration sponsorship is not available for this role
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering or mathAdvanced Technical Degree or MBAMinimum 5 years experience in a food, chemical, beverage or related batch and ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.Minimum 3 years experience applying Continuous Improvement tools in a Lean manufacturing environmentMinimum 3 years experience in cross-functional project or program managementKnowledge of supply chain financial measurements of Operations, Capital Management experience Extensive experience using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), ERP, and other relevant computer software and systems effectively
