Your Role at Delta Faucet:
Delta Faucet Company is looking for a strong foundational Continuous Improvement leader to coach and develop our production teams at our largest bathing production facility. The Production Manager will play a key role in overseeing the Vacuum Forming and Extrusion Multi-Shift production operations at the Lapeer Manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for making critical decisions in a dynamic manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on aligning operations with long-term business strategy. The Production Manager will lead Group Leaders, Team Leaders, and hourly employees to meet performance metrics while fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and quality.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment: Align production operations with the company's long-term business strategy and adjust plans to meet changing business needs. Maintain awareness of significant changes in business strategy and production levels, adapting plans to ensure optimal performance. Effectively work with leadership team and all departments to achieve plant objectives.Operational Excellence: Implement and apply concepts from the Masco Operating System and Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance production processes. Champion initiatives like 5S, implement corrective actions for unsafe behaviors, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using problem-solving methodologies such as PDCA, Kaizen, and SMED.Performance Management: Oversee departmental metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, conducting regular audits to sustain high standards. Monitor and manage labor productivity, material variance, scrap rates, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Ensure adherence to schedule attainment, changeover targets, and production targets through daily tracking and planning.Team Development & Coaching: Build and maintain strong relationships with hourly employees to foster trust and collaboration. Coach and Develop Group Leaders, Team Leaders, and employees to enhance leadership skills, decision making, problem solving, people skills, performance, and engagement. Ensure all employees receive required training, including new hire orientation and skills gap training (e.g., LOTO, Forklift Operation).Budgeting & Resource Planning: Develop and manage the annual budget for production operations, focusing on optimizing resource utilization and controlling costs. Coordinate workforce planning, staffing levels, and labor scheduling, including early labor planning for equipment warm-up. Oversee time and attendance activities using systems like UKG Kronos, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.Quality Assurance & Compliance: Collaborate with the Quality Manager to ensure compliance with material, finished product standards, and specifications. Implement and oversee shutdown and startup procedures to maintain consistency in operations. Ensure that department safety standards are met and that direct reports receive ongoing safety training.Project Management & Implementation: Participate in project implementations, maintenance activities, and process improvements to enhance overall production efficiency. Lead initiatives in housekeeping (5S), training/development, scrap reduction, downtime reduction, and compliance with company policies.Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field is preferred.Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a production environment. Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing, Daily Management, Operations, and Material Flow.Problem Solving Skills: Proven problem-solving skills with experience using methodologies such as PDCA, SMED, and Kaizen.Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with ERP systems like SAP for managing production data and inventory.Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to effectively interact at all organizational levels.Leadership Skills: The ability to be assertive, make difficult decisions, and take responsibility for them, even when it's unpopular. The capacity to be open and direct with others without being intimidating, and to deal with problems head-on. Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.Physical & Work Environment Requirements: Must be able to perform visual inspections of products and use technology for data analysis. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include standing for extended periods and exposure to varying temperatures.Schedule: Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support a 3 shift organization.Why Join Us?
