SUMMARY
Provide project support to functional Department Management to attain 100% schedule adherence.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives with regard to cost, quality, safety and cycle time to attain future goals.
Provide opportunity for “off-line” training and development of future SOC and functional Department Management and Supervision.
Reports to the Department Director or Vice President. Authority and responsibilities will be assigned at the discretion of the Department Manager.
The Production Operations Analyst will be expected to liaise with all internal and external supplier and customer departments when appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Responsible for analyzing, coordinating, and monitoring multiple projects from initiation through delivery to our manufacturing facilities for production. Compile project status reports, coordinate project schedules, manage project meetings, and track action items. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of projects by scheduled deadlines. Develop project work plans and milestone schedules for assigned projects, scheduling resources tasking and tracking progress. Develop detail SOC / department operating schedules within the framework set by Department Manager or SOC Manager and Master Planning Department. Identify and resolve all schedule conflicts prior to start date. Monitor and update schedules as required. Document detail department / SOC operations and procedures to be used as baseline for continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor department / SOC rework, analyze, identify source and make recommendations for correction. Identify, implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, reduce cycle time, improve quality, and improve safety. Any other items as assigned by the Supervisor
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent experience; Four to six (4 – 6) years related work experience; experience in the US Navy or other military service highly desired. Knowledge of MAC PAC material requirements planning system. Strong knowledge of Microsoft project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in making professional presentations. Working knowledge of: scheduling techniques (PERT, CPA, GANTT); process control techniques; trend analysis; problem identification and problem solving techniques. Be capable of design plan reading and interpretation and design information interpretation. Must be self-motivated, proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills. Must be computer literate. Possess a general knowledge of NASSCO policies and procedures, safety policy and facilities. Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Position requires the ability to walk on scaffolding and work at heights aboard vessels under construction or repair. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Position requires employees to carry, raise, lower, push or pull objects up to 25 lbs. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments. The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Production Operations Analyst II is accountable for providing the agreed deliverables necessary to support the Department Supervision and Management to attain department goals.
Payscale: Level I $55,600.00 -$79,400.00
Level II $65,200.00 - $101,400.00
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
