Job Description
Job Title: Production Operator Assistant (POA3)
Department: Production
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Supervises: N/A
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
The Production Assistant is an hourly position, and reports to the Production Supervisor. The employee is the process expert for the packaging process, and is accountable for packaging and transportation, including any finishing, fabrication, and reconditioning packaging equipment (i.e. baggers, unitizers, tapers, belt roll up (BRU), etc.)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures material availability, product selection, and set-ups Assists with job changes Operates unitizers (NGUs), ovens and banders, baggers (NGBs), and conveying equipment Assists Packaging Operator and Production Operator Group Leader Salvages work and clears jam-ups Problem solves and troubleshoots issues Performs transportation of finished and reworked goods Uses PanelView/PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to select products and packages Operates forklift and other related material handling machinery Assists with training Performs and documents necessary CILT Ensures a safe work environment through following safety protocols, wearing proper PPE, performing general housekeeping tasks, and participating in safety/5S area audit Supports TPM activities including attending, participating, and updating daily management board
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee should hold the following abilities:
Must be able to read, write, and speak English Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions Must possess strong organizational skills Must have the ability to multi-task Must have strong communication skills Must work well in team environment Must be able to secure and maintain forklift driver’s license Must be able to work independently Must have the ability to do basic mathematical calculations
Probationary Period
120 days in which you must have good attendance and performance Complete Workkeys Aptitude Test (Math, Graphic Literacy, Reading)
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES
The employee must be able to:
Operate a computer or other keyboard instrument Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Utilize plant Tag system in order to communicate any issues
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment Must be 18 years or older
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires:
Regular attendance on site and the ability to work varying or rotating shifts Must be drug and alcohol free Exposure to hot/cold temperature- continuously Exposure to noise- continuously Lifting/carrying/moving up to 50 pounds Standing- continuously Twisting- frequently Hand/Eye Coordination– frequently Walking – frequently Refer to the Physical Analysis of Demands for further details
