The retort operator position is responsible for the overall operation, monitoring, and accounting of all retort machines. **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:** + COMPLETE PROCESS REPORTS + CHECK CODES + PLACE CHARTS IN RETORTS + READ PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES WHILE IN OPERATION + CHECK INTERNAL TEMPERATURE + LOAD AND UNLOAD RETORTS + MUST BE ABLE TO MANUALLY OPERATE RETORTS IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE + KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN + KEEP WHEELS CLEAN AND GREASED ON RETORT DOLLIES + REPLACE WHEELS ON RETORT DOLLIES + INSPECT POUCHES + OPEN REWORK + OPERATE FILLERS + HELP IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS AS NEEDED **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:** + HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED PREFERRED **JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:** + MUST BE ABLE TO READ, WRITE AND COMPLETE BASIC MATH TASKS + MUST BE ABLE TO WORK UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION AND FOLLOW WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AND TECHNIQUES + MUST HAVE GOOD EYESIGHT **TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:** + GMP'S + GENERAL SAFETY + CONTROLLING FOOD ALLERGENS IN THE PLANT **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** + LIGHT PHYSICAL EFFORT, BENDING, LIFTING, STACKING, PUSHING AND PULLING REQUIRED.
