Production Operator - Salt Plant

Summary: The individual in this position will work as a Bagger or Fork Lift Operator in the Salt Plant. Employees will be required to inspect, maintain and clean assigned equipment and related work area. Bagger Operators will learn to run various baggers and related equipment, Fork Lift Operators will learn to perform material handling assignments, transport products,and materials to assigned storage areas, and load trucks and boxcars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

Receives information from the opposite shift as it pertains to packaging and production. Communication with the alternate shift when production goals are not met. Visually ensures that machinery used in this area is functioning normally and within established guidelines.Performs quality packaging of the dry products to include: proper weights, proper folds, sealing of the bags, and placement within the specifications of a wooden pallet. Also the finished wrapping of the pallet and then transference to the staging area.Inspects operating and safety integrity of equipment in assigned area and reports all problems to shift Supervisor, or coordinator.Operators are expected to do maintenance items when hoppers are bagged out.The employee will need to be proficient at troubleshooting issues with all the equipment in this area, and be expected to meet daily production goals, along with maintaining quality standards of products.The individual will need to know what parts are stocked in the warehouse for the equipment in theirarea, and know how to generate W/O’s for replacement parts. Lead time for replacement parts for equipment in this area takes up to 6 weeks to be delivered so the operator will need to make sure parts needed are on hand before existing parts fail.Operators will be expected to rework pallets that are damaged on a daily basis.Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalency is required. Must have a working knowledge of forklift operation. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must pay attention to detail and perform tasks with a high level of quality.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be PC literate and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, E1, and Access.
