Production Operator (US)

Job Summary 
As a Production Operator at Avient, you'll set up and operate equipment to blend, weigh, mix, mill, or transport liquid or dry chemicals that make up our customer products, ensuring high quality and cost efficiency. You'll also be responsible for machine maintenance, quality control, data recording, and supporting the company's vision and principles while adhering to safety and regulatory rules.

Essential Functions

Sets up, starts and runs all machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards. Weighs ingredients to meet recipe (BOM) specification and inserts into machinery, or ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and inserts pre-blended materials into machinery. Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues. Operates machinery to weigh, mix, mill, discharge, package or handle materials according to operating procedures. Safely operates material handling equipment including but not limited to fork lifts, hand pallet truck, pallet jacks, etc. Understanding of Kanban system. How to set up orders and use of equipment according to batch size. Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards. May Takes samples of materials to lab for evaluation and instructions on any batch adjustments if needed. Packages raw materials and Finished Goods. Refers issues/problems to Production Lead or Production/Shift Supervisor for disposition. Performs all required machine cleaning.  Washes and cleans production equipment, containers, and tools used in the manufacturing process and storage of raw materials and Finished Goods. Completes and maintains all required system inputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity. Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc. Enters data into company computer system and data bases. Uses computer to print production labels and use of email. Works with others fostering team work and continuous improvement to maximize efficiencies. Participates in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods. Follows and complies with all company work rules, procedures, policies, training and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience 

High School diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent training & experience

Qualifications

Work experience in an industrial operations environment preferred Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedure manuals Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide.  Must have the ability to use conversions, work with different units such as weight, volume, density, distance, etc.

Physical Demands

Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds Typically work is in a manufacturing environment where noise level is loud  Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, respiratory protection Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes
