Production Planner
Luminator is a leading innovator in the design and manufacturing of communications and lighting products for more than 80 years in transit, rail and aerospace industries. We are continuing to build our dynamic team by adding a Production Planner. Summary: It is the goal of the Planning Group to deliver the highest Quality products to our Customers on Time. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists you will be responsible for all aspects of creating, analyzing and communicating detailed production schedules using industry standard planning and scheduling. You will collaborate with Manufacturing Leaders, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control to ensure work is efficiently planned with all risks identified. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage Production Master scheduling process, shop loading and related material management processes to include: + Develop, maintain, and analyze the master production schedule and manufacturing plan based on program schedule, customer ask date, labor, and machine resource availability, and expected make/buy part availability lead time. + Manage production schedules for different programs. Provide Production Control detailed information to ensure scheduled completion dates align with actual work center capacities, capabilities, and historical performance. + Regularly update and maintain master schedule by incorporating changes, updates, and adjustments as necessary. + Evaluate product scope and creates tactical schedules using scheduling systems (APS). Control the scope of work released to Production Control for management and execution. + When schedule recovery is necessary, identify and analyze solutions and bottlenecks, including forward and reverse scheduling methods. + Work closely with production team to determine the needs and constraints of the manufacturing shop floor, technicians and schedules work accordingly. + Coordinate interdepartmental activity with Program Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering to ensure production and customer specifications are accurate and production schedules are timely. + Monitors status and provide regular updates to management on upcoming production priorities. + Update visual management boards with current job/program status. + Perform schedule and scope variance analysis and reviews MRP execution. + Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation and judgement. + Determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand. + Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time. Skills: + Must possess strong organizational and time management skills. + Must be capable of handling an array of interdependent functions without affecting work quality or attention to detail. + Must be able to effectively set priorities and schedule workflows in accordance with manufacturing needs and requirements. + Must be familiar with basic forecasting methodologies such as moving averages. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. + Proven experience in production planning. + Profound knowledge of production planning and quality control principles. + Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems. + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Qualifications: + 3-5 years of experience as a Master Scheduler or similar role in a High-Mix Low-Volume manufacturing environment. + 3-5 years of recent production control planning and scheduling experience. Experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment, preferred. + College degree in a supply chain, business or related field preferred + Extensive ERP system experience, preferably SyteLine with APS (Advanced Planning System) and report writer literate. + Strong knowledge and experience with MRP-based Planning and scheduling systems. + APICS Certification encouraged. + Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook.
