Production Planner
Summary:
The Production Planner, under the guidance of the Senior Production Planner; plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and directs material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of raw and approved finished goods materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, inventory levels, and potential production or material supply disruptions to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided on-time and at an optimal cost. Confirms material supply and demands, and prepares production orders for the production of assemblies based on a master production schedule, sales orders, or direction of Management. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with Quality, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Inventory, receiving and shipping. This is a fully on-site position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily releases of work orders to optimize work flow for kitting. Expedites, closes and reconciles work orders; Works with Quality and Production to close work orders in a timely manner. Re-evaluates and adjusts work order quantities and dates. Evaluates open work orders for stragglers and issues; works with Production, Quality and Management to determine best actions. Runs and analyzes Material Requirement Planning (MRP) reports. Provide material alignment status to work order statuses on Work Order Summary Review (WOSR). Provides commitment dates and updates to Sales and Management. Works with manufacturing supervisors to obtain feedback about production status. Gather data to support production meetings. Complies with quality procedures and guidelines. Completes special projects and compiles special reports as required. Initiate the Demand Change Authorization Form (“DCAF”) for all new demand load or changes to the existing schedule within the guidelines of the Closed Loop Planning Process and manage the sales order process. Ensure on-time delivery of material kits to production. Participate in the ECO Implementation for open manufacturing orders (WIP). Manage materials relating to the procurement process through the MRB function. Perform “what if” material analysis. Report ongoing delivery status to CFT. Expedite material through purchasing and reprioritize production plans as required. Work directly within the CFT to coordinate all demand and supply actions to align materials to planned manufacturing work orders. Participates in meetings. Provide direction and demand change recommendations to the CFT based on material and short term capacity constraints. Communicate new ship dates to the CFT based on escalated final material-in dates. Comply with all in-house training as identified in job specific family and or specific training plan. Support all corporate and site 6S objectives. Perform all other duties, as required.
